One of the most enjoyable activities for me is visiting a public farmers’ market. I have come to know that if you really want to connect with the local people, you have to visit the local farmers’ market. Plus those markets always offer fresh produce and foodstuffs at very affordable rates. That is why I always visit the local farmer’s market whenever I visit a new city. Findlay Market in Cincinnati, OH, is one of the finest public markets that I have ever visited. Located in the historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood, this is Ohio’s oldest continuously operated public market and it’s even listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Findlay Market is open Tuesday through Sunday year round. The Market is home to more than 40 indoor merchants selling meat, fish, poultry, produce, flowers, cheese, deli, and ethnic foods. On weekends from April through November Findlay Market hosts a thriving farmers market, dozens of outdoor vendors, numerous street performers, and lots of special events. Let me tell you about all the fun I have in Findlay Market when I visit Cincinnati, OH, last year.
Findlay Market is a bustling center of farm fresh, locally sourced, artisanal and specialty foods. It’s also a socio-cultural hub that attracts people from all walks of life. The thing that I enjoyed most in this market is shopping. You can buy everything you need here. There are fresh fruits and vegetables for sale. All kinds of local foodstuffs are available in this market. You can try out the local cuisine or indulge all kinds of treats in this market. There are many eating places where you can enjoy fresh food at very affordable rates. You can start shopping early in the morning and even eat breakfast in the market. There are always very many people in this market, which makes the shopping experience even more fun.
The Findlay Market Biergarten is the place to sit and enjoy a beer. It’s called the beer garden for a rescan. The place offers craft beer series from many local breweries. They publish a calendar of all upcoming craft beer series on their website. There is a different brewery every month offering a variety of craft beers. The beer garden is open daily from May through October and on select days during the other months of the year.
Findlay Market in Cincinnati, OH offers free 30-minute tours to the public. These free tours are given twice a month on the 2nd & 4th Saturday of the month at 10 am. The tour is open to the first 20 people to sign up. The tours are given by the many volunteers in the market. You can also pay a little fee to go on a 30-minute Basic Tour. The Tour & Treat Package costs a little bit more but it includes a 30-minute walking tour plus you get to choose an item from three food options from a Findlay Market merchant. Companies can also book a corporate tour of the market.
Very many fun events are hosted at the Findlay Market Biergarten. Many live music shows and concerts are held in the beer garden. I enjoyed many fun shows in the Market. Visit the Market’s website to view a calendar of all upcoming musical shows and concerts.
