One of the best cities to visit in the Midwestern state of Ohio is Cincinnati. This is the third largest city in the Buckeye State with one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the Midwestern United States. There are very many fun attractions in Cincinnati, OH, that it’s almost impossible to choose the best ones for recommendation. I have visited this city several times in the past but it never gets dull. There are always new places to visit and fun events to attend. The best time to visit Cincinnati OH, is during the spring and summer months because these seasons allow all kinds of fun outdoor activities. I visited the city during the summer season last year and it was incredibly fun. I spent a whole day in one of the best spots in the city; the fun-filled Eden Park. Eden Park is an urban park located on a hilltop and covering 186 acres (0.75 km2). The park has many fun amenities and we are going to look at the very best of them.
The Cincinnati Art Museum
I am a huge art buff so I will start with my best attraction in Eden park; the Cincinnati Art Museum. Founded in 1881, this is one of the oldest museums in the United States. The Cincinnati Art Museum has one of the finest collections of artworks and paintings. The museum has a diverse, encyclopedic art collection featuring over 67,000 works spanning 6,000 years. Among the featured artworks and paintings, you will find the works of famous European masters like Sandro Botticelli, Aert van der Neer, Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, Matteo di Giovanni, Bernardo Strozzi, Jorge Ingles, and Frans Hals. Other impressive paintings are by Camille Pissarro, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir — plus an extensive collection of paintings by American painter Frank Duveneck. In addition to its in-house art collection, the museum also hosts several national and international traveling exhibitions each year. The museum has many educational and historical resources and it also hosts many art-related programs, activities, and special events. Admission to the museum is free and it’s open from Tuesday to Sunday.
Cincinnati Playhouse In The Park
One of the best places to catch a play in Cincinnati, OH, is the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. This is a regional theatre that is famous for bringing prominent plays to the city. The multiple award-winning Playhouse features two theaters. There is the large Robert S. Marx Theatre and the smaller Shelterhouse. The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park hosts a full 10-month season of plays plus various acting programs and classes for kids.
The Krohn Conservatory
The Krohn Conservatory has over 3,500 plant species from all over the globe. The Conservatory is divided into various collections featuring similar plant themes and species. There is the popular Bonsai Collection featuring an excellent collection of bonsai trees. The Desert Garden features cacti and succulents from arid regions including agaves, Cereus, Opuntia, aloes, crassulas, Pereskia, and yuccas. There are about 75 blooming orchids at any given time from the thousands of orchids in the Conservatory at the Orchid Display. The beautiful Floral Display has six seasonal floral shows including a citrus tree collection featuring oranges, grapefruits, and lemons. The Tropical House has a huge variety of terrestrial and epiphytic ferns and many other tropic and economic plants. And last but not least, the Palm House contains many rubber trees, palm trees, banana plants, and ground cover. Its excellently landscaped with a waterfall and a goldfish stream.
